Opening Thoughts (James Whitcomb Riley): Fall paints a picture that no painter has the colorin’ to mock, when the frost is on the punkin’ and the fodder’s in the shock.
Special guest speaker Jeanette Bouchie, Vigo County Public Library Outreach Services, addressed the VCRTA with a very informative presentation on many of the outreach services offered by the Vigo County Public Library. The services ranged from opportunities within the library as well as “in-home” services to residents of Vigo County.
Ms. Bouchie discussed opportunities for technology training including computer classes, one on one time with a librarian, and even how to use the 3-D printers; entertainment including popcorn and movie nights; and genealogy and other database access research options. Homebound or “in-home” services included the ability to sign up for home delivery of library materials to anywhere in Vigo County.
The VCRTA Community Service chairperson reminded all members to begin recording each persons yearly volunteer hours. The 2017 Volunteer Hours forms will be distributed and collected during the December General Meeting. Please note, VCRTA members as well as Associate members should record their volunteer time which includes the time you leave your home until you return.
